My Wealth Referrences

Friends,

There are a lot of books out there teaches us on how to get rich and become financially free. They will give you different strategies and on how to make you get out of the rat race, make good money by having passive incomes and teach you how to destroy your money limiting beliefs. I may not read all of them but most of these books have in common. Something is lacking. The values are not present. I mean, after being rich and achieving your financial goals, what is next? What is the purpose of being rich anyway? I have the same opinion that, what will you do with your money afterwards is not a vital element in becoming rich. Yet, I believe this is important. Because there is something more significant than being rich and that is fulfilling your purpose. Fulfilling your purpose of becoming wealthy is the only thing that will make you satisfied and happy. I believe, it should be the end in our mind- Fulfilling your purpose.

If you are looking for a book that will guide you step by step in achieving financial independence personally, I recommend you reading first- Simplify and Live in Abundance, 8 Secrets of the Truly Rich and Choose to be Wealthy- books by Bo Sanchez. I suggest these not only because the proceeds of the books goes to different foundations and charities. But also, I find these books very easy to understand for someone like me who is taking their first step in achieving prosperity. It also gives you exactly what to do! Why do we need to save, how we can start our investments, what are the things we should consider before investing, whom we should approach, the holy use of money and when to start. This book is very practical and recommendations from the author is applicable to everyone especially Filipinos. The reasons are obvious because of two things. First, the author is a Filipino. If you are a Filipino you might want to get an advice that is applicable in Philippines right? There are many good books too authored by famous foreign financial experts however, their idea is somehow needed to adjust in order to adopt Philippine settings. Secondly, it is based from Bible. Bible is for everyone even for non-Christian and most especially dedicated for the non-believers. It answers all questions - money not exempted.

My road to Financial Independence started only this year, when I attended the “Proper Series” at “The Feast”* (for those who still do not know where the happiest place on Earth is happening, please see the lists of places below. I hope this will be your spiritual home too! The Feast is a Catholic Mass Celebration followed by wild party of worship and mind blowing talks by inspiring preachers! See you there! ). The talks become my eye opener in starting saving money, where to invest it and how to grow it. I realized how procrastination and financial ignorance becomes very expensive. Basically, I learned that there are three ways how we can grow our wealth without getting into an active work, this is called passive income. This is by owning a business, via real-estate income and lastly by having paper assets. Among these three, I start building paper assets first. For me, this is the easiest. This is by investing your money through the stock market and other investment vehicles. There are two ways how to invest in stocks. The first one is directly participating in stock market by having a broker. Here, you call the shots. You are more hands on. The other one is indirectly investing via mutual funds. The only difference here is that you have a fund manager that will look into your portfolio and your investment is diversified.

A lot of people who directly invest in Philippine Stock Market lose money. I know that. I am one of them before. That is a fact and we do not need to argue about that. Why they are losing money? Because they do not have any idea what to do in stock market, they do not even know what companies to buy and when to sell their shares. They panic and lose money instead of profiting. I suggest that before participating into the stock market find a mentor first and be oriented how the market behaves.

You can join Bo Sanchez’ Truly Rich Club for guidance in investing. He is recommending stocks that have a potential growth. Again, he will guide you step by step investing in stock market. Here is the link.

However, if you want to invest in mutual funds and prefer to have a fund manager, and wanted to be mentored personally. Please mail me at jperalta_10@yahoo.com. We can organize a special lecture session with Mr. Lyndon C. Malanog (He is the one introduced in the book “Choose to be Wealthy” by Bo Sanchez). He is my officemate and mentor too. We are more than willing to teach you how to build your wealth brick by brick. Because, we believe that before engaging into any investment we must build first a solid financial foundation. This only means that we are prepared for emergencies that may happen, Have a sufficient income replacement, protection to our assets and how to avoid getting into debt trap. We also offer three series of free lecture at Chino Roces, Makati City every Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Here are the topics.

Lastly, I would like to invite you to join our Facebook Groups for you to have a continuous reading reference. Please search “ The Wealth Builder” in Facebook.com. I am publishing my blog there and give you links to informative articles from other bloggers as well at least twice a month. This is my small way of doing my part to evangelize people the importance of Financial Education.

We all need to be Financially Educated. You do not have to be broke or rich, young or old, educated or not before starting to attend seminars or reading books to increase your Financial I.Q. If you want to live a comfortable life and retire young, start studying now. Find someone who can help you. Find a mentor that will guide you and a team of people that will help you build your dreams. Be frugal in spending and give back to society. You are one wrong decision away from poverty and only one right decision to riches.

One of the most important lessons I learned is that we do not need to be wealthy first before we start giving. In fact, we should start giving first before becoming wealthy. Because if you cannot give atleast a part of what you have now, it is more difficult for you to share if you will have a millions of pesos tomorrow. This is my purpose of becoming wealthy, to give more. There is a lot of people who are in need. I learned that being wealthy is incomplete if not, useless if we do not share the blessing to others. Use money to live life comfortably and to love extravagantly. Use wealth to proclaim God’s word and spread the good news.

In case you don’t have any organizations or charities to support, I will also recommend some. Start investing in heaven.
